MNYC Reads is an event series based on creating spaces for community members to gather and engage in conversation. We use a specific text that attendees are welcome to read in advance, but no one needs to have read the text to understand the conversation. From there, we encourage open dialogue about the issues within the text and how we see them in our own lives, how they inform our personal perspectives and actions, and how we can come together as a larger community to create positive change around those issues.
Previous events have discussed abolition, community care, and public safety, as well as brainstormed ways to create more caring, supportive communities statewide.
